Homeless Christ

In the early sixties, Ólöf Pálsdóttir was commissioned to make Christ sculptures for different locations in the new cathedral at the historical site of Skalholt. She worked for several years developing ideas and a number of preliminary studies for the project. However, in the end nothing came of them due to a series of mess-ups by the clergy. This was the source of much disappointment to the artist.

To the left is Ólöf’s younger brother, Jens Pálsson, professor of anthropology (1926-2002).

Olöf liked this relief best of all the Skálholt project pieces and had it cast in bronze.
